Best Thailand & Angkor This tour is the perfect combination of the highlights of Thailand and Cambodia.
(13 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Siem Reap (Angkor)

This luxury tour is the perfect combination of the highlights of Thailand and Cambodia. The tour features the bustling city of Bangkok, the tropical beaches of Phuket, the breathtaking scenery and cultural attractions of northern Thailand, and the magnificent ancient ruins of Angkor. Accommodations are among the finest in Asia, including Four Seasons and Aman resorts.

Begin in Bangkok. With your private guide explore Bangkok’s most unusual Buddhist temples, the Chedis of the Kings and the invaluable golden Buddha weighing over 5 tons. Visit the most important temples. Learn about Buddhist practices and influences on daily life. Enjoy a fascinating, private long-tail boat tour through Bangkok's canals, the colourful markets and shop for exquisite Thai silks and art work. When not sightseeing, enjoy time at the world’s leading spa, swim, play tennis, shop for exquisite Thai silks and art work, and dine on some of Southeast Asia’s best cuisine.

Next, spend several days in Chiang Mai where you will stay at one of Asia’s most luxurious and atmospheric resorts, surrounded by mountains and lush fields of terraced rice paddies. With your private guide explore the city of Chiang Mai, with a wealth of beautiful and historic Buddhist wats (temples) and the royal family’s Winter Palace. You will have enough time at leisure to browse craft markets or enjoy the resort's spa, cooking school, golf, or pool.

Fly to Phuket and enjoy at one of Thailand's leading luxury resorts. Spend your days relaxing on pristine beaches, indulging at the spa, swimming, playing tennis or golf, taking cooking classes or yoga lessons, diving, or exploring nearby islands by luxury boat. Other activities we can arrange include fishing, bird watching, cultural activities with local experts, shopping at markets, sunset cocktails in scenic spots, yoga, golf, cooking classes and a yacht cruise among the islands of Phang Nga Bay.

Continue to Cambodia to visit awe-inspiring Angkor, an enormous temple city built as a model of the Hindu universe in stone and comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Art historians consider it to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Its five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks - the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond. Visit important ruins, such as Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, and discover lesser known jungle-covered ruins that are just as awe inspiring. Depending on your interests, also visit craft workshops, a local orphanage, take bike rides, have us arrange a Khmer cooking class, or charter a helicopter to a remote jungle temples.

Getting There There are no direct flights to Cambodia from the UK, but good connections are available from major Asian destinations. You can fly with Thai Airways to Bangkok, Malaysian Airlines to Kuala Lumpur or British Airways via Hong Kong. From there you can take the budget airline Air Asia or Dragon Air. The total journey time, excluding transit, is about 15 hours.

From Phnom Penh you can take direct flights to Siem Reap, which now operates on daily basis. Direct one-hour flights are now also available from Bangkok.

In Thailand, Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport is the country's major gateway. Practically every airline carrier that flies to Asia also flies into Bangkok. This means there are plenty of services and the competition on the routes helps to keep the ticket prices down.

When to go The climate in Cambodia and Thailand remains tropical. The best time to visit the region is in the months between November and mid-March. During these months the days are pleasant and the nights are chilly. Thereafter the temperature begins to rise and March to May gets very hot. The monsoon arrives in the month of April-May and peak in August but continues until mid-October. Travel is difficult during these months. Avoid travelling during March-April and August.
