Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines, that originated in ancient India. Although, the origin of yoga is pre-dated, it was most likely developed around the 6th-, 5th-century B.C. Ancient Hindu scriptures like the Yoga Sutra, give instruction on how to meditate and describe what factors constitute a meditation practice. It states that yoga (or union) happens when the mind becomes quiet. The practice to quieten the mind is now available in some elegant resorts in India.

Day 1 – Arrive
Delhi Meet and greet on arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After a warm welcome you will be escorted by our representative to your hotel for 2 nights stay. The rest of your day will be scheduled depending on your arrival time and how tired you feel.

Day 2 – Tour
Delhi The capital city of India is a bustling metropolis that successfully combines the ancient with the modern; Old Delhi, once the seat of the Moghul Emperors and New Delhi, established by the British in the early 20th century.

Your private tour begins with a visit to Old Delhi that still reminisces the past and retains its ancient architecture. Places of note in Old Delhi include the 17th century Red Fort that served as the capital of the Moghuls, and its Chandni Chowk market, which is still the busiest in Old Delhi. Also visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Delhi and the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Humayun.

In the afternoon discover New Delhi, which has the imprint of the British architect Edwin Lutyens. Most notable are his India Gate (World War I memorial), the Parliament and the President’s House. The present-day New Delhi, however, has an urban landscape with modern shopping arcades, high-rise buildings with rooftop bars and some of the best Indian and international cuisine restaurants. Wherever you go, you will experience a mix of architectures, cultures and religions.

Day 3 – Transfer

Day 4 & 5 – Spa Resort
The Ananda Spa Housed in the palace of a former Maharajah, the spa blends the ancient Indian healing art of Ayurveda with Swedish and Thai elements in treatments designed to detoxify, de-stress and revitalize. Day 6 – Spa Resort
The Ananda Spa Nearby is the holy city of Haridwar, situated on the banks of River Ganges. According to Hindu mythology Haridwar is among the seven sacred cities of India. Also known as 'Hari Ka Dwar' or 'The Gateway to Gods', Haridwar stands as the gateway to the four Hindu pilgrim sites of Uttrakhand, Rishikesh, Badrinath and Kedarnath.

If desired, take a tour to nearby Rishikesh and visit its many temples, yoga and meditation centres while the adventurous can experience water rafting on the River Ganges. In the evening enjoy the beautiful Aarti ceremony (rituals and prayers) along the ghats of River Ganges, before returning back to Ananda Resort.

Day 7 – Transfer
Mumbai Transfer to Delhi for your flight to Mumbai. Meet on arrival and transfer to hotel. The morning flight from Dehradun departs at 1135h reaching Delhi at 1235h, from where you will take another flight at 1400h that reaches Mumbai at 1600h.

Day 8 – Tour
Mumbai Mumbai (Bombay), India’s economic capital and the home of the Bollywood film industry. Take a private tour to the Elephanta Island Caves. A short ferry ride takes you across the harbour to the island of Elephanta for a visit to the Great Cave Temple, which dates back to 550 A.D. Elephanta’s most striking figure represents the three aspects of Shiva – the creator, preserver and destroyer.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Mumbai visiting the Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India, Gandhi museum and the bustling Dhobi Ghats, where you will see hundreds of men and their families engaged in the family business of washing clothes. Trident Nariman Point (B)

Day 9 to 11 – Transfer
Goa Transfer to the airport for your flight at mid-day reaching Goa at 1300h. Goa is India’s smallest state, best known for its beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere and Portuguese-inflected cuisine and colonial architecture. Spend three nights at one of India's best resorts, with free time to relax at the beach, enjoy yoga classes and indulge in treatments at the hotel's spa, one of the best in all of India.

Take a half day tour of new and old Goa seeing the typical Portuguese Goan architecture and the Basilica of Bom Jesus, where the remains of St Francis Xavier lie in a dazzling silver casket. Remaining time at leisure to explore the amenities offered by your hotel and enjoy the sunny beaches of Goa. For the more adventurous, you could indulge in some water sport activities.

Getting There All major international airlines fly to India’s main airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Airports tend to be on the outskirts of cities. Pre-paid taxi services and auto-rickshaws are stationed outside the terminus to get you into the city.

When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. September is a generally a clear month though later, between October and December there may be a reverse pattern called the north-east monsoon that appears in the Bay of Bengal, bringing rains to the east coast. The best time for trekking in the Indian Himalaya is between April and November but it varies from region to region and the altitude you are planning to reach.
