Ayurveda & Goa

Ayurveda & Goa

Rishikesh is a city in the northern state of Uttarakhand, in the foothills of the Himalayas beside the Ganges River. It's a pilgrimage town, renowned for studying yoga and meditation. Temples and ashrams (centres for spiritual studies) line the eastern bank around Swarg Ashram - a traffic-free, alcohol-free and vegetarian enclave upstream from Rishikesh town. Numerous ashrams offer yoga courses, and local companies arrange trekking tours into the mountains, kayaking and white-water rafting trips.

This Ayurveda & Goa tour is primarily for those interested to relax and rejuvenate in style in one of India’s best spas. Ananda in the Himalayas is a luxury spa resort located near Rishikesh, one of the most popular destinations for yoga in India. Housed in the palace of a former Maharajah, the Ananda Spa specialises in Ayurvedic and yogic treatments to de-stress and revitalize. Finish the tour with a few days in a luxury resort in Goa.

And, also find time to relax on the beaches of Goa.

Delhi, Himalayas, Goa, Mumbai
(12 Days - Departs daily on a private basis)

Begin in Delhi, the bustling capital of India. With your private guide, explore the historical sites of Old Delhi including Qutab Minar, world’s tallest minaret and a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture; Humayun’s tomb, Lodi Gardens, Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. New Delhi in comparison has an imprint of the British architect Edwin Lutyens. Most notably are his shiny examples of the Parliament and the President’s House.

Continue to Ananda in the Himalayas for three days, consistently voted one of the top spas in the world. Housed in the palace of a former Maharajah, the spa blends the ancient Indian healing art of Ayurveda with Swedish and Thai elements in treatments designed to detoxify, de-stress and revitalize.

During your stay, enjoy a spa program that includes spa treatments, spa cuisine, and the wonderful facilities and activities available at Ananda. You will also consult with an expert practitioner, who will recommend Ayurvedic treatments specifically designed for your needs.

If desired, one day enjoy private touring of nearby Rishikesh, known for its many temples, beautiful setting, whitewater rafting, and numerous yoga and meditation centers.

Transfer to Delhi for the flight to Goa, India’s smallest state, best known for its beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere and Portuguese-inflected cuisine and colonial architecture. Spend three nights at one of India's best resorts, with free time to relax at the beach, enjoy yoga classes and indulge in treatments at the hotel's spa, one of the best in all of India.

The tour concludes in Mumbai (Bombay), India’s economic capital and the home of the Bollywood film industry. Getting There All major international airlines fly to India’s main airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Airports tend to be on the outskirts of cities. Pre-paid taxi services and auto-rickshaws are stationed outside the terminus to get you into the city.

When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. September is a generally a clear month though later, between October and December there may be a reverse pattern called the north-east monsoon that appears in the Bay of Bengal, bringing rains to the east coast. The best time for trekking in the Indian Himalaya is between April and November but it varies from region to region and the altitude you are planning to reach.
