Kenya Samburu Safari

Kenya
Samburu National Reserve, north Kenya, is a game reserve in the Rift Valley Province. Located north of Laikipia, in Kenya’s vast semi-deserts, the park neighbours the home of the Samburu tribe, known for their nomadic way of life. On its south, runs the Ewaso Ng'iro river, that draws plentiful wildlife. Buffalo Springs National Reserve, the continuation of Samburu on the south side of the river, and Shaba National Reserve, further downstream to the east, are often considered as part of “Samburu”.
This tour begins in Nairobi and travels to Amboseli National Park for a two-night safari. It is known for large herds of big-tusked elephants. Then travel to Samburu region, home to the nomadic Sumburu tribe with their ancient culture and traditions. Samburu wildlife include rare species such as long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa onyx. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Continue to Masai Mara National Park, a popular reserve.

When to go Game viewing is at its best in mid-summer after the rainy season has ended. The days will be long and the weather pleasant. The best month is probably July.
The main rainy seasons are from April to May (the long rains) and October to December (the short rains). Rainfall is seldom continuous over long periods and normally falls in the late afternoon preceded by bright sunny and fresh days. The Rift Valley and Central Highlands enjoy a temperate climate year round although the temperatures vary from the hot and relatively dry floor of the Rift valley to arctic on the peaks of Mt Kenya.
