Jacana Camp is set in the most densely populated wetland area of the Okavango Delta where sitatunga antelope and red lechwe, and hippo and crocodile are regularly sighted. The many lion prides in this area have been extensively studied in recent years, thereby building up a more intimate knowledge of their behaviour. It has five spacious en-suite tents built on raised wooden decks, all with stunning views over the water.

Birdlife is abundant; enthusiasts can spot Pel's Fishing-Owl as well as African and Lesser Jacanas and a host of other Okavango specials.
Activities at Jacana Camp include mokoro trips, throughout the year and game drives during September and May when the floodwaters have receded. There are also two platform hides within the Jao Concession.
Jacana Camp OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA
Stay Jacana Camp is a classic safari camp with 5 luxurious tents with a capacity for 12 guests (plus pilots/ leader/ guides). Meru-style tents are raised off the ground on decks and have en-suite facilities and a veranda with spectacular vistas over the floodplains. There are four standard tents twin or king size bed. There is one family tent which accommodates two adults and two children. There is one twin bedded guide/pilot tent which is smaller than a standard tent.
The Camp The main area of Jacana Camp has a lounge and dining room raised on decking, overlooking the floodplains. Bar and lounge area downstairs are located beneath the dining area. An open air boma is used for dinner around campfire. There is a Gazebo with hammocks, plunge pool and a curio shop. Slide projector available. The Camp electricity is powered by 220v generator.
ChildCare Children of 6 years and older are welcome to stay at the Jacana Camp. For families travelling with children between 6 and 12 years, private activities need to be booked and paid for. The minimum age for walking and mekoro activities is 13 years and for boating activities is 6 years.
Safari The main activity here is water-based game viewing in 6 x 2-seater mokoros (a traditional dug-out canoe). Boating trips are in 1 x 12-seater and 1 x 7-seater boats in the waterways near the Camp. Game drives are via 2 x 10-seater open 4 x 4 Land Rovers each accommodating maximum six guests, allowing all guests an outside seat. All vehicles are equipped with books on trees, birds and mammals along with a pair of binoculars and Peaceful Sleep insect repellent.
Experience Fishing is on a catch and release basis (prohibited in January and February for fish breeding purposes). The camp has a small stock of basic rods and reels but if interested bring your own fly fishing equipment. A raised hide located about 40 minutes from camp can be used for sleep-outs – maximum 4 guests at a time.
